Giuseppe Negri Birth/Baptism Record

Post by AngelaGrace56 »

Jefferie:

This looks your Giuseppe Nigri here:
Birth/Baptism Record: Giuseppe ...? Negri, born October 1782: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=442795

It seems to have the correct parents and grandfathers.

Dear Angela,
Thank you so much for finding what I believe might be the correct Giuseppe Negri record. I had seen this record so many times but each time I could not make out any of the words except what I thought was Josephi, an Ambrosio (speaking of this, I incorrectly called Anna Ambrosio, Giuseppe's wife when I mean't his mother), jugalium Negri and that was it. All the rest was so illegible. So thank you for looking for the record and trying to translate more of it for me. I will post this for Latin translation as I still cannot make it out.

Yes, Erudita (Erudita74) has been amazing in her zeal for trying to translate, helping me with Latin etc. I sent her a private message as well as thanking her here.

My best gratitude to both of you!

Hi again,
What made me doubt this record before when I kept looking at it was the word after Josephi that I thought started with an "A or R" and then later it looked as if Dominico's father was Josephi Alino or ? His father was Giovanni Battista from other records so this "A" has me stumped. I guess the only way is to have someone look at it and see what they think the translation is. I just hate to have them look at records that might not be but I feel if you think there are connections here, I will post.
Respectfully,

Jefferie,
Are you able to post the records you have that site Domenico Negri's name as "Giovanni Battista". I personally believe that this is the correct record and that your Giuseppe Negri's grandfather was Giuseppe, not Giovanni Battista. If you take a look at this thread here: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/ ... co#p292324 I believe that this Giovanni Negri, whose grandfather is Giuseppe, was your Giuseppe's younger brother. (Also, if your Giuseppe Negri was the oldest son of Domenico Negri and Anna Ambrosio, and it looks like he was, and if they followed the Italian naming patterns, it would also make sense that your Giuseppe Negri's grandfather would be named Giuseppe. A few "if's" here, I know but I'm pretty sure I am correct on this.

You can have this record in question translated if no one catches it here. I think the name after Giuseppe may be Antonio/Antonino.
