I was always told that it was common for people to have red hair in the Veneto area and didn't really think much of it. After reading some of your articles (I am learning quite a lot!) I understand that the Celts invaded Northern Italy, so I guess my tree will be getting even more diversified. my grandma and her father had red hair, they were from Vertova, I don't know very much about that branch. The last names of great grandpa's parents were Bernini and Moroni, which I believe are common Italian last names so I don't think it gives me any other clues for the origin of their red hair.

You could look at surname maps:
https://www.surnamesinitaly.com/lastnam ... s-map.html
Red hair is not that common in Italy but even some Sicilians have it.

My hair was chestnut. My fathers was auburn. I have hazel eyes, green/brown as were my fathers.
There is a mix. I have family with very dark, black hair but with blue eyes. Sometimes rather piercing.
Conversely, some with dark blonde hair and light brown eyes.
All from the north.
