hello
i am looking for any information anyone may have on my family name and backround. I understand that it is a variation on the original germanic name ragan waldaz. I was also wondering if anyone had a link or a coat of arms. I have found 2 different ones. My family is originally from Canzano, Abruzzo. My grandfathers name was Sabatino Ranalli born around 1899.

had an older brother named Nicola who moved to USA
i beleive their father was either Nicola or Giovanni Ranalli
my father Giovanni Ranalli was born in Notaresco Nov 22, 1931

any information would be appreciated
i am also looking into the backround of the name

history can indeed be interesting
especially when stories passed down can be associated to real historical events
i will now be attempting to research my great grandfather who appears to be named Antonio Ranalli (not a name found normally in our family)

two points confuse me though,
if he came over on his uncle's name (luigi) then i must have another relative i do not know (my great grandfathers brother?)
and
it says on the registration form that nicola was supporting his parents, but would they be in the USA. ?

like i said, more topics to research and more enjoyment for me

Not sure if it's an uncle or cousin, but it does appear that you did have
more relatives in the US.
Is it possible they were from your great grandmother's side?

it says on the registration form that nicola was supporting his parents,
but would they be in the USA.?

they could have been in Italy - he was sending money home?

Mario, have you looked into whether or not the Family History
Library has any of your towns in Italy on microfilm?
If they do, the records can be amazing!
