Ranalli family
hello
i am looking for any information anyone may have on my family name and backround. I understand that it is a variation on the original germanic name ragan waldaz. I was also wondering if anyone had a link or a coat of arms. I have found 2 different ones. My family is originally from Canzano, Abruzzo. My grandfathers name was Sabatino Ranalli born around 1899.
thankyou all

Hi and Welcome to the Forum!
We would be happy to help!
What records do you already have for your grandfather
Sabatino?
Where did he live? Family member names, ages?
Thanks! Valarie
For reference, could this be his brother Nicola?

Born 20 Aug 1894 in Terame Abruzzi
(probably province of Teramo, Abruzzo)

Re: Ranalli family
Dear Valarie
there is much food for thought here
thank you again
history can indeed be interesting
especially when stories passed down can be associated to real historical events
i will now be attempting to research my great grandfather who appears to be named Antonio Ranalli (not a name found normally in our family)
two points confuse me though,
if he came over on his uncle's name (luigi) then i must have another relative i do not know (my great grandfathers brother?)
and
it says on the registration form that nicola was supporting his parents, but would they be in the USA. ?
like i said, more topics to research and more enjoyment for me
thanks
Mario

Re: Ranalli family
Dear Mario,
You're very welcome!
more relatives in the US.
Is it possible they were from your great grandmother's side?
Mario, have you looked into whether or not the Family History
Library has any of your towns in Italy on microfilm?
If they do, the records can be amazing!
an example:
Topic:
Italy, Teramo, Canzano - Civil registration
Titles:
Registri dello stato civile, 1809-1910 Canzano (Teramo).
Ufficio dello stato civile
