cemeteries in Italy

Hi,
I know I saw a thread about this, for the life of me cannot find it this morning.

Was wondering, is there anyway someone can find a listing of cemeteries in a particular town in Italy?

I am looking for a cemetery in Schio, Venice.

I have a photo of my g-grandma's grave, however the copy is really bad. My new found cousin in RI sent to me, but her copy is just as bad.

Tried blowing it up to see if the dates of birth/death are on it.
No good. Apparently there are flowers on it, so someone is going there, or do the cemeteries do that, I know in Jersey if you pay a price, they will put flowers on a grave for holidays, birthdays, anniv etc.

Figured I would call a few and see if they could tell me if she and family members are buried there?

Any advice????

If you want to know if some relatives are buried close to each other you should must know their day of death

Cemeteries in Italy belong to the municipality who has workers to clean it.
So the cemetery management let his workers throw away old flowers.
What I think is that there is some old person related with your ancestor, who brings flowers to her tombstone.

I just joined today and did a search on Schio. My grandfather was from Schio. He migrated to Australia in the 1920's. I note your email was in 2006 did you find the gravestones you were looking for.

I haven't been on here for a bit.

Reagarding Schio, no sorry to say I havent located anyone able to help me out on finding graves there. Riccardo offered me info stating it would be most hard to locate a person unless i know a death date.

My family lived on 626 Via Sessegolo, if u could locate the house and snap a pic would be great.

The info I have on my family is the following:


Antonio Santacattterina was alive in 1934 as well as his wife Anna Zanella.
They came to the USA after January of that year to see my gram. My grandfather died (their son) on Jan 4, 1934 in NJ.

My fathers oldest siblings remember them coming here.

The other members i know of is their daughter Teresa Rosalina. She married in Schio in 1915 to a man by the name of Andrea Caccetto.

The other brother Antonio Santacatterina died in the 1960's. I do have a picture of them carrying his coffin thru the streets to the cemetery.

Antonio, Anna Zanella (spouse) children: Teresa Rosaling & Antonio are the only family members that still lived in Italy.

If u do go, and its possible to get photos of the graves, it would be great. If not i totally understand. I dont want to monopolize ur time.

I went to Italy in 1998, however, at the time, I didn't know where my family was from just that they were from the north. I actually stayed a few days in Venice too. Gorgeous! Loved the gondola ride, take one if u can, well worth the money. LOL!
