OM Goodness...
I had not checked back in awhile and had been searching solo...
some of what you found I had already discovered but some of the documents I had not been able to locate but I am going to back up to your past thread and print out documents I did not know I could get! Not sure if you pay to get on some of the NYC sites. It may take me some time to go through them all but thank you so very much! I was able to find out Giosue (1830) was married to Rosalia Palmeri & his son, my great grandfather Liberto died in 1895 after his son was born . Apparently then his wife, my great grandmother emigrated here with 2 of her 3 children & stayed with her brother in Manhattan until remarrying. Her oldest daughter arrived a bit later with an aunt. The Palermo 10 yr index helped a great deal.
Thank you again for all you research. I was fortunate to know most of my family history as many were alive when I was little. Unfortunately. some of the info was missing and my Dad had some memory issues bbefore he passed and had only some vague memories.

Maria Elena,
I've got a soft spot for Palmeri investigations, as I have a direct line of ancestors from (Mondello) Palermo with that surname. Happy to help.
The gazillions of NYC records are at this site:
https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/search
To my knowledge, these have been made available only within the past 5 years or so.
Searching the database and downloading the posted images is free; if you want official copies of the documents, that will cost.
I seem to be in the ItalGen vanguard of mining this incredible resource. The site has a few structural problems - there is no wild card searching, so the precise spelling of the "as-indexed" names must be used. Unfortunately, "as-indexed" sometimes offers a warped version of "reality" or "correct". Some of the search idiosyncracies take practice to get accustomed to, and there are inevitably glitches here and there. But no use cursing the darkness.

Re: Palmeri/Fanale
Just saw your last post...guess I missed it. So if you are a Palmeri...always wondered if my Great grandfather Liberto or ALbert had any relatives here in the states. Seems there are MANY Palmeri's but not able to trace any back to my roots.
