Racalmuto

Hi,

I need some help with geography.
I have a 1836 marriage record from Caltanissetta, Villalba, Sicily.

The groom's place of birth looks like " Racalmuto, distretto of Grigenti, valle di Girgenti". The groom was born about 1780.

Today, Racalmuto is in Agrigento. Are Agrigento and the 1836 Grigento the same area? Thanks for the help. I haven't been able to find an old map of Italy form this time period.

I found my answer on the LDS site.

Before 1927 Agrigento was called Girgento.
