on the 1920 census, Andrea may have been enumerated with his wife's family, which is a problem since we don't know her name

I think his parents were living at 126 Cherry St on the 1920 census and are enumerated with a son named James, age 19. Domenico was 48 as was Vincenza. You many want to manually go through the census pages before and after their census page in case Andrea lived in the same area.

Those are for an Andrea Leone who died in the year 1918 or 1919. I found my grandmother's one grandfather and the year given is the year he died.

Peg, I am fairly certain that the first wife's maiden name was Blumetti. The children from the first marriage (Genevieve and Estelle) are living with Stella Blumetti (listed as her granddaughters) in the 1930 census.

Stella (already widowed) is at #28 Cherry Street in 1920...and Andrea and wife #1 are not with her. :(

I will check out the Kings County records. (EDIT: Or not...this Andrea died in 1957, on a trip to Italy).

Also, yes...I've been through the entire ED for 126 Cherry (#42)...they are not there. I am working on ED #54 now.

Debi
I don't believe those estate files are for your Andrea. Those are for individuals who died through 1923.

Right. Okay, I've been through the EDs where both sets of parents were living in 1920 and they aren't in either one.

I guess the next step is to figure out the ED for the address given on the draft card (38 Olive or Oliver Street) and scroll through that one.

Any other suggestions are welcome; this is beginning to feel a like a snipe-hunt. :)

I've been viewing Oliver St. in the 1920 Census since that was the address Andrea gave on his WWI Reg. Card :-)

Manhattan Assembly district 1
Districts 43, 44, 45, 47, 48 (these are the districts that list Oliver St. - which is a fairly short street!)

I started with #48 which has low numbers, and am now into #47..

Want to start at #43?

Not in 47 or 48 either :-(

The numbers looked promising in 43 and 48 because they were low and in the 30's, but all odd numbers... where did they put the even's?

44 had #38 Oliver Street...but they weren't there, either.

Ah, well. It was worth a shot!
