My grandfather immigrated from Sicily to New York in 1890. He stated on a document that he was born in provenzo Gragenia,Italy. I have been unable to identify,can anyone help? Thanks, Neil

I am wondering if he meant the province of Girgenti which is the old name for the province of Agrigento.

I believe the city of Agrigento, which is the capital of this province, is also referred to as Girgenti in Sicilian
