Giovanni Cerasuolo family of Serino Avellino

Post by cerasuolo12 »

Hi, I am trying to find my great grandfathers family. His name was Vincenzo Cerasuolo and he had at least two brothers that came with him to America in the late 1800's. His parents names were Giovanni and Antonia (Viola) Cerasuolo. I have been told by a distant relative here in America that has done much research that she believes that he was from Serino. If anyone has any knowledge of this family please contact me. Thanks Cozette Cerasuolo

He settled in the Boston area and in 1904 he paid his betrothed's way over on Sept 11, 1904 her name was Giovannina or Giovanna (both were used) Salerno. Her parents names according to the MA marriage record were Nicola and Carolina (Clemente) Salerno.

Hi, I have been looking for information on a Carimali Cerasuolo who was married to Gaetano Grasso. They lived in Serino Italy. Her mother was a midwife who lived to be 107 years old. I think the year of her death was 1901. Carimali (this may not be correct spelling) and Gaetano had sons, Raffael, Gaetano, Carmen, Pasquel -and their was a daughter- I think her name was Carman.
Carimali and Gaetano were my great grandparents. My mother told me that Gaetano came to America first, the sons came to America later, one at a time, however, Carimali stayed behind with the young daughter. We have been trying to find out what happened to her and the daughter.
Does anyone know anything of her?

Giovanni Cerasuolo family of Serino Avellino

Post by Caren.matyckas »

I’m trying to find the parent of Biagio Cerasuolo (born February 1882), who married Antonia Trumbetta (born 1882). Antonia’s parents were Luigi Trumbetta and Serino Frasca. Biagi and Antonio had the following children: Maria Carmela (born November 18, 1912), Luigi (born November 6, 1917), Ida (born Serino, Italy August 5, 1918), Donato (born October 9, 1917) and Antoinette (birth unknown). With the exception of Ida, all children were born in Paterson, New Jersey.

Antonio Cerasuolo (born 1885 in Serino, Italy), one of the three sons of Giovanni Cerasuolo (born 1850 Serino, Italy), also lived in Paterson, New Jersey. He married Marianna Petito; and they had the following children: Vincenzo (born Serino, Italy August 23, 1914), Antonette (born Serino, Italy March 7, 1916), and Giovanna (birth unknown). The other sons of Giovanni Cerasuolo, Vincenzo and Francesco, remained in Boston, Massachusetts.

When Biagio Cerasuolo arrived in the US, he was visiting his cousin, Gaetano Grasso, in Summit, New Jersey. When Gaetano Grasso arrived in the US, he was visiting his cousin, illegible first name Cerasuolo in Boston, Massachusetts.

What’s the Cerasuolo Grasso connection? Is Biagio Cerasuolo related to Giovannni Cerasuolo? Who are the parents of Biagio Cerasuolo? Why did one of Giovanni Cerasuolo’s sons, Antonio, move to Paterson, New Jersey?

I know these are a lot of questions; but any help to point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Caren Matyckas

The wonderful thing about Italian records is that they give you everybody's ages. Biago's father Donato was 33 years old at the time, so look for birth records in 1882-33=1849 (+/- 1 year) for the same town and you'll most likely find it!

You can keep chaining documents like this to the early 1800s.

You can find marriage records by looking through the birth year+20 (they all seemed to get married around 20 years old) +/- 5 years.

Death records are harder because they could have died at any age.
