GF never natuarlized - letter of no record?
I am helping a friend with this process and her grandfather, who is still alive and does not ever remember being naturalized, immigrated with his parents (he was born in Italy) as a child. His father was naturalized, but he does not remember having been so. His father was naturalized in the 20s and our understanding is that the GF was sort of automatically given citizenship, but has never renounced his Italian citizenship formally. Does this make his descendents elligible for citizenship through descent? Thanks for your help with this. Also, oddly, no one in the family is showing up in any census records or marriage or death records - the name is Angelo Mascaro (son Eugene) in Warren, PA from Feroleto. Any thoughts about why that might be or where to look?

Thank you! Yes, that is he. How did you find this? I use ancestry and he didn't show up in the 1940 census in their records.

Re: GF never natuarlized - letter of no record?
Thanks Teresa - we found Angelo's naturalization record in the Warren courthouse, and I am waiting to see those, but the situation is complicated - I just posted about it. It seems they always lived in Warren, although Angelo may have been in NY many years before.

Dear Lisa Hickey,
I think that Angelo Mascaro was my great grandfather, born in Polverini (village of Feroleto Antico's municipality) in Calabria (South Italy).
Angelo Mascaro became an american citizen in 1929. He lived in Warren, county of Warren, Pennsylvania.
"Eugene" Mascaro arrived in Ellis Island in 1931 with Antonio Mascaro, his half brother, who was the brother of my grandmother.
"Eugene", Antonio and Angelo Mascaro went to Warren at 308 Morrison street which was the house of Angelo Anthony Lucia. Angelo said that Angelo A. Lucia was his cousin, but I don't understand this cousinship.
I know that Antonio died in 1993 and "Eugene" in july 2014.
Angelo Mascaro returned to live in Polverini (Feroleto Antico) where he died.
I never meet my great grandfather and my uncles of America.
I just spoke on the phone one time with Antonio in the 1980's when he had his restaurant in Warren.
Best regards.
Giovanni
