I'm gonna see what I can get from my wife about her Grandfathers names. Maybe Chester was indeed something else.
And yes we have been told that all 3 came on the same voyage. All around the age of 9. That info came from my wife's family. Her grandmother is in great health and has confirmed that all 3 came on that voyage.

michaelPiacentini wrote:The ship's info is what my grandfather had told my Father, uncle, and Aunt. My uncle was the first born and was named Salvatore telling me that his grandfather probably was indeed Salvatore who came here in 1929 along with my grandfather.
I believe Salvatore is now where I am going to look.

And how do you find all this so fast? Unbelievable!!

Thanks again

As far as we know Mario had no siblings. But his father, Salvatore was supposedly an orphan as the story goes but he did have some family that he knew and left behind in Italy. We believe there was an older brother left behind in Italy.
I'm hoping to end up there somehow at the end of this quest.

Domenico Marini had a Brother Sam, could be Samuel or Salvatore.
Chester Montini had a sister Lucille and a brother William.
Lucille was Murdered in the early 1980's by a wacko husband. William passed away 10 years ago.

Hi Michael!
wldspirit & mfjp are terrific aren't they - real pro's!
Sounds like you're having luck jogging your family's memories.
Another question:
Is the Salvatore that worked at the Remington Gun Company in 1917
related?

WWI Draft Registration Card 1917

Salvatore PIACENTINI
1826 Main St, Bridgeport, Fairfield, CT
24 Nov 1884
worked at Remington Gun Co, Bridgeport
wife Carolina in Strangolagalli
Short w/Medium Build

1906 Manifest
Salvatore PIACENTINI
headed to NY (visit cousin)
from Strangolagalli
http://ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup_wei ... &line=0023

1922 Manifest
pg 1 Salvatore PIACENTINO (PIACENTINI?) 37 yrs old, in US before in CT
going to Bedford, NY from Strangolagalli
wife Carolina VALICACCIA

http://ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup_wei ... &line=0006

pg 2
http://ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup_wei ... &line=0006

the Salvatore & Caroline from the manifests end up in Bridgeport?

Connecticut Death Index
Name: SALVA PIACENTINI
Death Date: 16 November 1952
Death Place: Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut
Age: 68 Years Birth
Spouse: CARO
State File #: 16633
Residence: Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut

Name: CAROL PIACENTINI
Death Date: 02 January 1954
Death Place: Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut
Age: 69 Years
Marital Status: Widowed
Spouse: CARO
State File #: 00176

If Salvatore & Carolina are related to your family we may have a lead on a town in Italy...
If not, we'll try something else!

Thanks!

Just spoke to my father and That is his grandparents but they didn't get here until 1929 unless they left and came back. he didn't work for Remington my father says.
Looks like he visited once and came back, maybe?
Cause my grandfather was 9 yrs old and came here in 1929.
In 1922 he was 2 yrs old.
Any ideas?

Thanks again!!

Michael,
it would not be unusual at all for your ggrandfather to travel back and forth to Italy, especially if his family wasn't in the US.
It would probably be unusual for your ggrandmother to leave her children behind in 1922, I think.

Your ggrandmother's name was Carolina?

We need an expert to look at this - don't worry, there are plenty of experts here.

To answer one of your questions: where do we get this info?
A lot of it is from ancestry.com. A $ website that has a 14 day free trial if U R interested, credit card required. (just get a cancellation # & remember to cancel on a weekday before 14 days are up).

Thanks for getting back! vj

I looked at that manifest and I'm wondering if anybody can decipher the cousins last name. I can't read any of it.

This site is amazing and you people are amazing.

Thanks so much

Hi Michael,

Looks like Salvatore's cousin had the same given name as you...Michele Guarino, if you are refering to the 1906 manifest?

Any other opinions?

I forgot her maiden name but we know about her side. I'll get that info from my family.
My question is why was the destination of so many Italian immigrants 34 Mulberry st. The 1906 manifest says that is where my ggf was headed.
Ive done a google search and found this destination to be a common one.
I know that it's obviously Little Italy in NY but what was that building?
Look at that 1906 manifest and it looks like several people were headed there.
