I checked all the marriage indices in Casacalenda from 1883 through 1900, couple by couple, but did not find a marriage for Margherita Operto.

Perhaps she was married in another town?

I did some looking for Margherita Oporto death record after Francesco's death in 1883 1883-1900 in the town of Casacalenda found no Oporto's listed in the death records perhaps try sending a request for her death record after 1900 it would show if she had 2 husbands. Send no money send a photo id with request

Thank you both Tessa and Marty. I also found out that she had a child born in 1864 who also had the name Luigi as did my great-grandfather. So this child was born three years before my ggf. The reason I know this is because at one time when my great-grandfather retired, he had to prove who he was and there was an error as to when he was born. He had consulted with the Italian authorities at the time so as to clear up this misinformation.

I will write to request the death certificate as you suggested and graciously provided my with the Italian translation of my need.
