CAFFARELLA SURNAME

Cafarella is a version of the name, Cafa...also Cafar, Caffa, Cafarelli, Caffarella...probably beginning with a name that means in Arabic, the unbeliever.
Some of the Cafarellas live in Malfa and Capofaro on the island of Salina in the Eolian or Aeolian islands.
They are also found in Calabria and in Rome, hence the Parco Caffarella. The Cafarellis were a branch...they are all VERY distantly related. There was a Don Bernardo de Natale di Cafarella near Capua in Campagna.
There are a few Cafarellas whose names were changed early in the century to Caffarella because the Nova Scotia daughter in law did not like her Cafarella father in law so she changed her kids names...whether the names stuck or not, I do not know. Felix was a not too uncommon name in our family. You may contact me if you wish, through the Blog which should have my email. My relatives are centered around Malden and Medford today.

Hi

Looking for any information about cafarellas in Napoli. Researching family tree my great grandmother had two maiden names Cafarella/ Virgona recorded on two seperate death certificates. Maria Josephine was born in 1882 in napoli. Later married in Leni and immigrated to Australia in 1901/1902 with Vincenzo Favaloro.

Any help would be appreciated.
