MATTERA and MATARESE

Hi all,

it turns out that not only is there Italian blood from my mom's side of the family, but from my dad's as well

This is what I know, but I have a few questions....

Carolina Matarese (6 Dec 1874 - 22 October 1924) was born in Forio (?) Naples to Giuseppe Matarese de Lorenza and Nunziata Monti de Rafaelle.

Is it Forio or Foria in the province of Naples?
Why would her surname be different to her father's?
Isn't that an odd spelling of Rafaelle?

Just wondering if my dad has made some mistakes with this information.

She married

Michele Rocco Mattera (5 July 1867) born in Barano d'Ischia

Thoughts on how to proceed from here?

Hi my family are from Casamicciola Ischia mainly. Monti, Aurelio, Zabatta, Matarese, Di Luise, Buonamano, Ferrara, Iacono, Pisano. Family still live in Lacco Ameno. My great grandfather went out to NY around 1904 Vincenzo Monti along with other family members. He lived in Rhode Island in later life and his wife Maria never joined him.
Any contact from related family lines welcome. I have a tree on ancestry.
Incidentally my grandmother came out to NZ with her best friend Tina Lombardi from Ischia.
