Petruso/Lamberti
Petruso/Lamberti
Can you please translate this for me? I believe it is the marriage of Damiana Petruso. Thank you!

The groom's name in Italian should be Santo. It's more clearly written in the body of the record.

Re: Petruso/Lamberti
Good morning, Christopher-
The additional info from the marriage record-it begins with the dates of the three** banns which were read aloud at the Mass-they were on Oct 29th, and Nov 1st and 3rd. There were no impediments to the upcoming marriage detected after the banns were announced.
Both the groom and bride were single-never before married-innuptum (male); innuptam (female)
Witnesses were a widowed Clerico* Antonino Russo and Don Ciro Baiardo/i
* A clerico could be a lay person who was a scribe or secretary in the church. Or he may have been a member of a minor religious order. It's possible that since he was widowed, he may have joined a religious order after his wife's death, especially if he was elderly.
**Normally there were three banns in the church records but occasionally dispensations were given which permitted the dispensing of some of the banns. This would only be if there were extenuating circumstances which necessitated the marriage date being moved up. The dispensation had to come from a bishop and not the local priest.

Hi Erudita and Livio...attached is a page from an 1887 allegati of Marriage I found for Vincenzo Petruso and Elizabetta (or Elisabetta) Barretta. I've been looking for Giuseppe Petruso (1863-1912) and Girolama Lo Iacono, but could only find this for Vincenzo. Could you please translate for me? I have more pages I could send if you want to see them. Thanks.
