Crescenzi family from Ripi

I am new to this site and hoping to find information about the family of my grandfather, Lorenzo Crescenzi. He was born in Ripi, Frosinone June 9, 1896. His parents were Giacomo Crescenzi and Angela Faustini. I don’t know if he had any siblings. He emigrated to the US in 1912 and lived in NYC. According to the manifest from the ship on which he arrived, his father was still alive in Italy and Lorenzo was coming to the US to be with his cousin, Pasquale Crescenzi. Antenati does not have records for Ripi, so I have reached a dead end. I would love to find Lorenzo’s birth certificate and his parents’ marriage and death certificates. Any help toward this would be appreciated!

You will need to write directly to the Comune of Ripi (records are kept at the local level) to request the birth act.
Write your request in Italian (help below), and include your photo ID and an email address. Send no money unless/until you are contacted. The records are free but there may be a fee for copying and mailing.

There are photos of the town of Ripi, the church and baptismal font on my website. Ripi was part of the Papal states and did not keep civil records before 1871. Prior to that all records were kept by the local parish church.

Ann, Thank you for your response and the information about Ripi. I looked at the photos on your site but none of then are labeled as being in Ripi - is there some other name for the area? I would so love to see photos of Ripi! The photos you have are wonderful - such a sense of antiquity in those towns! Wish I could see them in person! Deb
