Researching Wills in Ascoli Piceno
I have an ancestor that emigrated to the US in 1915. His fiance came from Italy later that year and then they married in the US. He went back to Ascoli Piceno in 1926 to purchase a house for his parents. He came back to the US and him and his wife stayed in the US the remainder of their lives. They didn't have any children. He died first in 1955 and she died in 1965. Before the wife died, her nephew from her side of family came to the US from Italy to stay with her for six months and got her to sign a new will making him and his brother a beneficiary. I am not sure that's what she intended because oral family history states that when she got wind of it, she flew back to Italy (keep in mind she was 81 yrs old at this time). She then died in Italy. She had a treasurer check and several hundred dollars on her at the time, all of which disappeared. I have copies of the US Will, but I want to research what happened there. The US Will was translated into Italian and it went through the consulate and the nephews renounced their standing as executors, but somehow the property in Italy went to them instead of staying on the paternal side of the family. From my understanding US Wills are not recognized in Italy so there should be paperwork somewhere in Ascoli showing she signed over the property.

If you can get a copy of the land transaction transfer it should give the name of the lawyer they used. Then go from there.
