Question--Certificate of No Record

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Question--Certificate of No Record

Post by Wedge1987 »

Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'd like to say thanks to all the helpful and informative people on this board!

My question is:

Do i require a USCIS "Certificate of no record" for my father (living- born in 1954), who is an Italian Citizen (always has been), and has never lived within the US?

And/Or do i need to do a search through NARA?

The reason I ask is it seems most requests seem to pertain to family connections a few generations back.
Oh, and my consulate will be the Washington DC one if that matters...
Thanks for the help!

IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR iTALIAN CITIZENSHIP THEN YOU WILL NEED A COPY OF HIS ITALIAN BIRTH EXTRACT.

If your father is Italian and always lived in Italy, he may well have registered your birth in his comune.

If he lived in another country, you would need to get no-naturalization documentation from that country.
