Monteleone

Post by jfm44 »

Any information on Giovanni Monteleone would be appreciated, especially his wife's maiden name. His wife's parents were possibly from Sicily. He last known residents was Leido Italy I think. He moved to the USA around 1910.
Thank you again

Hello John,

Where in the USA did Giovanni live?
Can you provide the names of children?

...and from where did you get the last residence as "Leido?" Can you post the record, or a link to it?

EDIT***
Located this manifest for Giovanni "John" Monteleone arriving NY in 1910.
He lists his last residence as "SCIDO" [Reggio Calabria] - the handwriting could be interpreted as "Leido" :-D
He leaves his father, Giuseppe, in Scido. His destination is Olean, NY, to join his brother, Antonino Monteleone.
He is married and a US Citizen. (There is a notation on the second page of the manifest that naturalization took place through the County Court in Cattaragus County, NY.

Is this your Giovanni?

Hi Tessa I found part of it on Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island passenger search and on the 1930 US census. The three children listed are Lena born in Italy, Sarah & Joseph both born in New Your I'm not sure where he lived I think Brooklyn.
Thanks

First trip to US in 1901 per the second page of his 1910 manifest. He is single on this manifest while married on the 1910 manifest. Going to Bradford PA or NY? to join brother Antonio.

The 1930 census you referenced with children Lena, Sarah and Joseph in Brooklyn cannot be correct since the father John's age is way off from the Giovanni in the above two manifests.
