COSTA and MARUCA

Post by costa2019 »

Hello, I have started researching my family tree but don't know a lot past my grandparents, so I am unsure where to look!

Does anyone have information on the COSTA and MARUCA names.

My grandparents were Gennarino Costa and Francesca Maruca (born 1923).
Francesca's parents were Giuseppe Costa and Saveria Nicotera.
I believe Gennarino's parents were Francesco Costa and Anna Maria Barisse?? (Unsure of last name as its hard to read on the certificate)

They were from San Bernardo of the Comune of Decollatura, Catanzaro, Calabria Italy.

Thank you!

Possible 1920 ship manifest for Francesco Costa, line 3, 2 page manifest

21, single, blacksmith, last residence and birth place Decollatura, leaves mother Anna Maria BARESE in Decollatura, joining cousin F. Scalzo in Danbury CT.

The surname Nicotera is not common in Decollatura but is in the neighboring towns of Serrastretta and Feroleto Antico. My 2nd great grandmother was Mariantonia Nicotera who was born 1836 in the frazione of Jevoli in Feroleto Antico.

Do you happen to know the exact frazione or parish in San Bernardo? Sometimes narrowing it down helps a lot when looking at baptism or marriage records. Chiikawa Puzzle
