Locating Birth Records in Naples

[abow8228]

Hello everyone! We are trying to find birth records for our great grandfather, Michael Brunetti, who was born in the Naples area on Dec 25 1897. His US Army Registration card lists Naples as his birthplace, and an alternate government document references it at Naples - Salerno. Any tips on where to start? Do we need the specific municipality in order to request documents? Thanks in advance!
