Hello, I have attempted to translate this marriage publication based on all the help you have provided me on other documents. I am struggling with the date in the first paragraph. It appears to state the year 1928 but also appears to say Year 6? "Anno VI". Can anyone review and confirm if I am translating incorrectly? Thank you

In the year one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, Year six?, on the eighth day of March, at eleven o'clock and thirty minutes, in the Municipal House. Before me, Michele Sala son of deceased Antonio, delegated council member with deed of July 6, 1926, already approved, Civil Status Officer (Registrar) of the Municipality of Marsala, personally appeared:
Manzo Natale, unmarried, aged twenty-two, Cooper, resident in Marsala, son of Salvatore, aged sixty, Cooper, resident in Marsala, son of Lampasona Antonina, housewife residing in Marsala and Gandolfo Angela, single, twenty years old, housewife, resident in Marsala, daughter of Vincenzo, sixty-two years old, cart driver, resident in Marsala, daughter of Arini Francesca, housewife, resident in Marsala, who has asked me to make the banns for the wedding that the spouses intend to celebrate in this office; and they declared to me that the groom was born in Marsala, the bride in Marsala, that they have had residence in the Municipality of Marsala for a year to date, that they do not have an adoptive father or mother, that their marriage is not hindered by any impediment of kinship or similar, nor any other impediment established by law.
These declarations were confirmed, with an oath taken in the legal forms by Laudicina Giacinto, aged forty-seven, barber, and by Puma Leonardo, aged forty-one, butcher, both residents of this Municipality, witnesses present at the act. Having examined the documents presented to me, all of which, which, with my endorsement, I insert in the volume of attachments to this register, I declare that the publications will be made in Marsala.
The documents are: copies of the birth certificates of the spouses, issued by me today. Also appearing were Manzo Salvatore and Lamposona Antonina, parents of the groom, Gandolfo Vincenzo, Arini Francesca parents of the bride, who give consent for the marriage. Having read this Act to those present, they signed with me except for the parents who claimed that they were unable to write. The groom, Arini Pasquale, The bride, Gandolfo Vita, The Witness, Laudicina Giacinto, The Witness, Puura Leonardo, The Officer Michele Sala

It would've been his sixth year in power. (I think) Can anyone review and confirm if I am translating incorrectly? Thank you

Re: Marriage Publication Translation
On the left column, under the Act number and names of the prospective spouses, are listed the dates of when the banns were posted on the door of the town hall:
Today, Sunday, 11 March 1928, Year VI; the first pubblication related to the current Act was affixed to the door of this Town Hall. (Signed by Michele Sala)
Today, Sunday, 18 March 1928, Year VI; the second pubblication related to the current Act was affixed to the door of this Town Hall. (Signed by Michele Sala)
The previous pubblication until today, 21 March 1928, Year VI, has therefore, for three days, been continuously posted on the door of this Town Hall. (Signed by Michele Sala)

Re: Marriage Publication Translation
I would have never figured out what year 6 was in reference to but that now makes sense. I did some research and found Mussolini came to power in 1922. I am definitely getting a better understanding of the script but also use the documents you and others have already transcribed as a guide. It has been extremely helpful. Thank you again for your help and also for the additional information regarding when the banns were posted. Have a great day!

The Fascist Era was a count of years based on the assumption of power by the Fascist government. As the epoch, that is, the New Year of the Year I, was established on October 29, 1922, the day after the March on Rome. It remained in force between 1927 and 1945.

Very happy to help. It helps me as well because if I make an error, and someone corrects it, then I've learned something new too.Road2Gandolfo wrote: 23 Feb 2024, 04:22 I would have never figured out what year 6 was in reference to but that now makes sense.
