Hi Suanj

On the 1930 census there is a Charles P Montanaro born about 1904 living with his wife Mary and son Ralph.

Charles P Montanaro Mary Montanaro Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH abt 1904 Ohio Head
Mary Montanaro Charles P Montanaro Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH abt 1908 Wife
Ralph Montanaro Charles P Montanaro,
Mary Montanaro Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH abt 1927 Son

I'll see if I can find Palma and Adelina

Looks like Luigi and Mary also had a daughter named Palma after the sister.

Exact Search Results - Rhode Island Births, 1636-1930

Name Parent 1 Parent 2 Birth Date
Palma Montonaro Luigi Montonaro Maria C Montonaro 15 Dec 1916

ps - This is the same family of 'Louia' Montonaro that I mentioned in an earlier post. If it is the right family then they had lots of children to give Sergio living relatives. The youngest son of this family was Harry born in 1922. There is a phone listing for a man of this name on Ancestry. Might be worth a letter Sergio.

NOW i'M IN CONFUSION.. BECAUSE YOU SAY: THAT HE NEVER CAME IN USA...??

AS IT IS POSSIBLE THIS?
IN THE 1912 SHIP'S MANIFEST ARE WROTE THAT GIUSEPPE CAME FROM ANGELO SON IN PATERSON AND PALMA DAUGHTER ditto from BROTHER ANGELO IN PATERSON

so you can explane us better' regards, suanj

As I will be able to be made excuses, you are great!!!
Now my mother is not sure, that her grandfather never came in USA.

I read again the ship manifest, before I have not seen that record 18 was of Palma(where go-->brother) and 17 of Giuseppe (where go-->son).

Yes they are, they came in Paterson wher my grandfather came.

"Hi, look up this 1920 census:

Adelene Mondonaro
Paterson Ward 3, Passaic, New Jersey abt 1907"

"-More: if this Palma is your Palma( and I believe of yes) well in the census are:
1. Luigi head age 42 (in 1920) born in Italy abt 1878
2. Mary wife age 37 born in Italy abt 1883
3. Charlie brother???' age 17 born in NJ abt 1903 (who it is)
4. Adelina daughter age 13 born in NJ abt 1907
5. Palma sister age 25 born in Italy abt 1895"

I think that all correct.

What i can say is that this Montanaros from Solopaca came someone in Pennsylvania and someone in New Jersey.. so also Sergio saying... but also someone of Pennsylvania residence in a first time, later emigrated in New Jersey, more of Angelo... so it is also possible that they moved also in other country...

Hi Suanj

I am never sure about anything!! :D Rhode Island seems to be just round the coast a bit from New York, and quite close to the tip of Manhattan Island. My geography of the States is a bit shaky so it would be better if an American member could say just how close they are - but they are in the same sort of area. Other than that, that names, dates and ages are roughly correct. The sister Palma, and the daughter Adelina must have married by the 1930 census and changed their names because I can't find them. This family is the only mixture of a Luigi and Mary/Maria that I can find on the 1930 census of around the right age and location. One of their sons is called Ralph - and the possible brother Charles on the 1930 census - (see earlier post) also had a son Ralph which may prove to be a family name.

I am having great fun with this ancestry trial :D :D :D

That looks about the right birthdate to be the Charles that was on the 1930 census with wife mary and son Ralph. :D Fingers crossed!

Sergio, there are only nine references to a Ralph Montanaro on the whole internet. There is a Ralph Montanaro who is head coach of a schools sports league in NY. If you go to this page you will find his email address http://www.psal.org/psalsports/coach/ps ... csport=030 He might be worth contacting to see if he knows anything!

It's so funny that I came across this thread. I was googling my son's name and found it. I am a Mondanaro by marriage and we're from NJ. I wonder if I could help? I just named my newborn son Luke Mondanaro, his Grandmother calls him Luciano! LOL!

I just read through this entire thread. My Grandfather in law was named Alfred Mondanaro, I see the name mentioned here. He had many brothers! Maybe I can help? There are many Louie's in the family too. OH and we are from Jersey City, NJ! I also see that mentioned here. I wonder if there is a connection. The name is not very common as you already know.
