Hi Everyone!
I am trying to find information about my great great grandmother, Cristina Creta. Based on documentation from her immigration to the US, I have found that she is from Palermo, Sicily and was born on July 24, 1882. I have been unsuccessful in finding any records of her in Italy. Any ideas on how to locate a birth record or additional records of her in Italy?
Thank you!

Re: Cristina Creta Information
I have her naturalization document. It indicates that she was from Palermo and came to the US in 1909 under the name Caroline Morino.

This is her ship manifest.

She travelled with Rosario, who might be her twin brother (they were both 30)
Their last residence was Trapani (?), and they left mother Francesca in Bolognetta - Trapani.
I have some doubt, because Bolognetta is not province of Trapani.

Re: Cristina Creta Information
From family stories, we’ve been told that Cristina and her husband, Salvatore Narzisi, both traveled together as Caroline and Rosario Morino. Of course, it is a story passed down generations so it may not be accurate. We are unsure if the information about Trapani or her mother is true or part of the alias. Without being able to prove if it’s true, I have been unsuccessful in finding more info. I have tried to look through as many birth records as possible from communes in Palermo but have not found the name Cristina Creta. Do you have a suggestion on another place to look?

Re: Cristina Creta Information
They were going to stay, allegedly, with a cousin Antonio Benigno in New York, which is the surname of Salvatore's mother Grace according to his death record? That might be the most tangible name to research next? There is a Bolognetta in Palermo. It also says in the ship manifest that they were born in Mazzara. There is a Maz(z)ara del Vallo, a Mazara Due and a Campobello di Mazara in Trapani. I could not find their names there, though the surnames Benigno and Certa were there. Certa is mostly found in Trapani in Mazzara del Vallo according to cognomix. Benigno is found mainly in Trapani and Palermo areas. Narzisi is mostly found in Lentini and Carlentini in Syragusa so his male line could have originated there and migrated west to Trapani or Palermo. Not sure any of that helps but may give some new avenues to look into, if you can't find any documents in US that could shed more light.
