Help finding grant grant grandpa Matteo

Post by Justink1 »

Good Evening everyone!

Greetings, I am looking for information on my Great-great grandfather Matteo Cardone.
He was born in Italy abt 1868 but I don't know where or his exact birthday.

His wife's name is Concetta Veneziano also born abt 1872 in Italy And no record on her birthplace/ birthday. Matteo and Concetta married on August 26,1894. He lived in Brooklyn N.Y.
He shows up on the 1910 US census as Michael Cordone I would like to know who his parents were and where in Italy he was born. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 8)

Hello!
Were they married in the USA, or in Italy?
Do you have their marriage record?

Some of the legwork has been done on Ancestry

*this one identifies without documentation,
Matteo's birthplace as Avellino, and his parents as [Michele Cardone & Camilla Auda]

Here are some corroborating documents, as usual kind of slippery with the dates:
=========================
1. Marriage on 2 January 1894 marriage
https://www.ancestry.com/search/collect ... 2637937624
- differs by a year from Farassino's finding, so one is correct and the other is a clerical error
=========
2. The death record of Concetta Cardone seems to be a good anchor.
https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc ... ew/5170749
Her birth date is given as 1875 The identification of her parents is tantalizing and confusing:
? father: "James Vincenzo"? James is a common translation of Vincenzo into English, so that doesn't seem (to me) to provide a surname.
? mother: "Filomino Veneziano"? To me the premise is that Veneziano was her father's surname.
My best guess for this is that her father's name of Vincenzo Veneziano was botched by some clerical miscommunication, and that her mother's name was Filomina (unknown surname), namesake for her second daughter born in 1899.
