You might be interested in the following link, which pertains to searching those soldiers that have died in the Great War:
Searching World War 1 Deceased: https://www.cadutigrandeguerra.it/CercaNome.aspx
You can keep your search really simple. All you need to do is type in the surname (Nominativo e paternita Box) and the town of birth (Comune in Albo Box), then the Province and Region Boxes. Then scroll down and click on “CERCA” (Search) It’s amazing what comes up with so little information.

Hi Joe
Sorry these records have been sitting here for so long. I’ve made a start for you and translated the easiest record here which doesn’t have a lot of tricky script and “Army Jargon” with it. Someone might catch what is handwritten in pencil. I also want to tell you that all the records you have posted are pertaining to Salvatore (one is a Leave Record and the other a Service Record). (I haven't looked at the second (white) sheet here.) Hopefully someone who is more experenced than I am in reading Military Records will save me from embarrassment and translate them for you, as they would take me some time, and I wouldn’t do them justice. (They do contain a lot of double information anyway.) There are no records there for brothers Antonino and Filippo, who both died during World War I, but I did manage to locate information for both of them which I will add in my next post. (There was no record for Giuseppe either. I'll get back to you about him.)
This is what I am understanding:
"The undersigned widow, Angela Letizia, daughter of Antonino, living in Nase declares and requests the following:
She has lost two sons named Filippo, and Antonino, in the 1915/18 War, while another named Giuseppe is a prisoner in the current war. As her son Salvatore is currently being recalled to arms, she forwarded the enclosed application to the Command of the 12th Battaglione Mitraglieri, Someggiata di C.A. Militelle? which was rejected by the Registration? Office of the said Battalion.
Because the exponent believes she has the right to request her son’s discharge, by either applying the first part of circular 149700.51 or by applying the second part, she therefore requests the Hon. Ministers to arrange for the discharge of her said son.
Dated in Naso on 19 April 1942
Signed Angela Letizia"
It will probably need some tweeking (and hopefully not a complete rehash)

Joe, you might be interested in learning more about Giuseppe’s time as a POW during WW2:
https://www.icrc.org/en/document/reques ... -war-quota
I wrote to the ICRC years ago re a family member who had been held in several POW camps from January 1941. It took at least a year to hear back from them, with me sending one or two followup reminders. They often got overhwelmed with requests. They now have a new system whereby they only take a certain number of requests every four months. See here: https://www.icrc.org/en/document/reques ... -war-quota
They are making the next application form available online on 19 May 2025 in case you were interested. You have to be quick in applying as their quota for applications fills up quite quickly.
You could also write and ask for his military record. It won’t have any info about his time as a POW though. It might just state that he had been held captive. The POW Record from ICRC will contain all the details of the various camps he may have been held in, where he was captured etc. It's well worth applying for this record.
Hopefully you’ll see this post in time.
Angela
