IN SALICE SEEKING DEATH RECORD OF GAETANO TOMASO (WIFE ANNA CELONA) WHO DIED AFTER 1848. SON ROSARIO BORN IN 1848. GAETANO BORN CA. 1808. CIVIL RECORDS ONLY GO TO 1865. IF HE DIED AFTER THAT ARE THERE ANY INDEXES OR RECORDS AVAILABLE TO SEARCH THROUGH BEYOND 1865? WIFE ANNA CELONA DIED IN SALICE IN 1885 AND SURVIVED HIM SO MOST LIKELY GAETANO DIED IN SALICE BETWEEN 1848 AND 1885. ALSO SEEK DEATH RECORD OF ANGELA GITTO (WIFE OF FILIPPO NASISI) WHO SURVIVED FILIPPO. FILIPPO NASISI DIED IN OLIVERI IN 1870. AGAIN INDEXES OR RECORDS WOULD HELP AS SHE SURVIVED HIM. AS ANGELA WAS ABOUT 50 IN 1870 SHE COULD HAVE LIVED UP TO AND BEYOND 1900. IF LOCATED THE 1876 MARRIAGE IN SALICE OF ROSARIO TOMASO,SON OF GAETANO,WOULD STATE IF GAETANO WAS STILL LIVING, AS WOULD THE 1880 MARRIAGE IN OLIVERI OF SALVATORE NASISI AND PAOLA ABRAMO. SALVATORE WAS THE SON OF FILIPPO NASISI AND ANGELA GITTO AND WOULD POSSIBLY STATE IF ANGELA GITTO WAS STILL LIVING. CIVIL RECORDS OFFICES IN ITALY NO LONGER RESPOND TO WRITTEN REQUESTS OR EMAILS AS THEY ASSUME RESEARCHERS CAN USE FAMILY SEARCH OR THE WWW.ANTENATI WEBSITE WHICH DON'T ALWAYS HAVE THE RECORDS NECESSARY TO SEARCH. I OFTEN WENT THIS ROUTE IN MY EARLY RESEARCH 25 YEARS AGO. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS MOST APPRECIATED.

In the marriage publication record for Salvatore Nasisi in 1880 in Oliveri, his mother, Angela Gitto, is still living . she appeared to give her consent.

And here is the death of Angela Gitto, widow of Filippo Nasisi, on 21 December 1906.
She was age 85.

thanks. as angela gitto was about 57 (born ca.1823) in 1880 she may have lived until 1900 or beyond. this is where indexes would help. salice is problematic as civil records end in 1865. the records contained in the "villagi di messina" which cover the frazioni and small comunes in and near messina probably cover salice in the years 1848 to 1885 and the probable death period for gaetano tomaso. unfortunately these records are very problematic to research. don't appear to be in any kind of order. births,marriages,deaths,or even alphabetical.

thank you. going to try and search the "villaggi di messina " records for the death of gaetano tomaso ca. 1848-1885. if i can find the marriage record of his son to caterina luca in 1876 in salice that should reveal if his father gaetano is deceased. narrow down the search.i'll check morte in salice from 1848 to 1865 at the antenati site. if he lived beyond 1865 those records would probably be in the "villaggi di messina" and narrow the research years down to 1865 thru 1885 as wife caterina luca died in 1885 and survived him. update: just checked deaths in salice from 1848-1865. no death record for gaetano tomaso. that narrows down the years to 1865-1885. if found in the "villaggi di messina" the 1876 marriage of son rosario could narrow it down even more.

i found that as well.just researched the villaggi di messina" index. 1866-1905. morte. image 1246. hard to read but i believe its gaetano tomaso. correct parents giovanni and caterina salvo. salice. looks like 1883. check it out. if i could find the actual image that would be great. but i believe i have the correct date. thanks again.

thats odd. as you can see in the first index page next to the surname tomaso there appears to be a name thats very illegible that has the parents giovanni tomaso and caterina salvo and that appears to have died in 1883. unless its a sibling of gaetano.and i thought wife anna celona survived him as well. but it appears 1894 is correct.thanks very much.

I believe the three indexed names: Antonino (1883), Giuseppe (1882), and Matteo (1878) are siblings of Gaetano.
