birth record in allegati (Acireale) - Zappala

Post by warriorrabbit »

Just trying to understand the notations (or why it's in Allegati) for the birth of Gioachino Zappala, born 24 Aug 1889 to Giuseppe and what looks to be Angela... Grasso.

And Giuseppe's occupation looks like barista, but that can't be it. Lastly, the street is 0 Via Dafnica?

The mother is indeed Angela Grasso.
Giuseppe’s occupation is “ebanista”
Via Dafnica (no number written)

In here is a bit clearer to read (original birth act from Acireale) and you also get a bonus marriage annotation.
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... oD?lang=en

The act was also transcribed in the Catania register n.3 parte seconda with the number 256 on 31 august 1889.
This is what the annotation on the allegato you posted says.

And here is Gioachino’s marriage with Caterina Raciti in Acireale on 15 December 1910. #248

Thank you so much! I'm actually trawling Catania birth allegati for a possible Ferlazzo (parents married in Catania in 1888, no birth records 1888-1893), but any time I see a Zappala from Acireale I have to grab them. This is helpful.
