More info on my grandfather

Post by Chris Riccardo »

My name is Chris Riccardo. I am trying to find more information on my grandfather Vito. In the New York Census of 1930, the last name is spelled Ricardo. My grandmother Anna is listed. Vito arrived in New York in 1912. He was born in 1896 in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy. I am curious about applying for dual citizenship.

In Sannicandro di Bari, the surname is spelled Riccardi.

I found no Vito born in 1896, but did find one in 1897.

This could be him. Vito Giuseppe Riccardi.
The ship manifest states that he arrived in 1914 from Sannicandro and that his father was Leonardo. Line #1

Didn’t check the others Vitos so don’t know if he made a previous trip to the States.
