Partial translation of marriage allegati

Post by lyn1982 »

Can anybody take a look at these and tell me some things? Bride should be the daughter of Raimondo Imbro
1832–1887 and Giovanna Fradella 1851–1967

What I mostly need to know - age of groom - if bride or groom was married before, and if any location other than PE is mentioned. Also, Bride's age - and if first marriage whether that was old/unusual for the time period.

I'm trying to determine whether she could be my ggf's mother. (foundling)

In the first document both bride and groom are of majority age and never married. No mention of places other than PE and Milano.

In other documents, he's 35 and she's 28.

Thank you! Would that be Milan, in Northern Italy or is there another Milano, cause thats super far from PE.

Was groom resident there? From what little I can make out looks like he was born in PE but lived in Milano. Very odd.

Was 28 very odd for a first marriage for a female back then?

The groom was born in PE and resides in Milano. His deceased father lived in Palma Montecchio, and his mother is alive residing in Milano.

The bride was born in PE and resides there. Her deceased father lived in PE as does her alive mother.

The groom is "celibe" and the bride is "nubile", meaning first marriage for each.

Marriage to take place in PE.

The only Milano I'm aware of is the one in the north. See what others say. Note the groom and his mother reside in Milano.

Thank you for the additional info - thats most interesting - sorry - one more question - can you make out grooms occupation? I'm curious as to what brought him to Milan.

There's a Palma di Montechiaro in Agrigento but the town for the groom's father sure looks like Palma Montecchio, but it could be a clerical error.

Another document has the groom's deceased father having resided in Palma di Montechiaro which is, in fact, in Agrigento. So that first document was a clerical error, indeed.

For the groom, the first document just has "employed". I'll have to check other documents.

Correction, the groom is an "impiegato" which can mean clerk or employee.
