Would someone please translate this record. I was under the impression it was for a Giuseppa but now it looks like it says Giovanna. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Help with baptismal/birth record for a Montelione
There is a discrepancy between the birth certificate and the baptismal record. In the latter, Giavanna’s father is listed as Antonino Montelioni.
In the archives of the Diocese of Agrigento, under Santa Margherita Belice, in the Baptismal Registers Vol. 41 – 1849–1853, the following is found:
Index, Image023 (Letter J), left-hand page, penultimate record.
Joanna filia Antonini Montelioni foglio 201
Joanna, daughter of Antonino Montelioni, folio 201
Register, Image150, f.201, record #250.
N° 250 die 23 ejusdem
Ego Canonicus Sacerdos Antoninus Sala Cappellanus Sacramentalis baptizavi infantem hodie natam a Antonino Montelioni et Victoria Cicio jugalibus cui nomen imposui Joannam M(ariam). Patrini fuere Costantinus Pioppo(?) et Jacoba Borleora(?)
No. 250, 23rd of the same month [November]
I, Canon and Priest Antonino Sala, Sacramental Chaplain, baptised the infant born today to Antonino Montelioni and Vittoria Cicio, a married couple, and gave her the name Giovanna M(aria). Her godparents were Costantino Pioppo(?) and Giacoma Borleora(?)

Re: Help with baptismal/birth record for a Montelione
Thanks mmogno. I do have a question. Attached is a link to the birth of her sister born a couple of years earlier and then there is a previous post on this site regarding the birth of her other sister, Giovanna, born a couple of years later. They are both showing Leonardo as the father. Do you think this is just a human error on the part of the record keeper? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

In the archives of the Diocese of Agrigento, under Santa Margherita Belice, in the Baptismal Registers Vol. 39 – 1842–1844, the following is found:
image161, f. 395, record 157.
20 August 1844: The baptism of Francesca Monteleone, daughter of Leonardo and Vittoria Cicio, born on the same day.
The parents listed on the birth and baptism certificates are the same.
The marriage of Leonardo Montilione to Vittoria Cicio took place on 1 November 1843 in Santa Margherita.
Leonardo was the son of the late Antonino and the living Francesca Santoro, who were formerly married. Vittoria was the daughter of Gaspare and Giuseppa Mauro, who were married.
Archives of the Diocese of Agrigento, Santa Margherita Belice, in the Matrimoni 1836–1849, image235, f. 229, record 53.

Re: Help with baptismal/birth record for a Montelione
Archives of the Diocese of Agrigento, Santa Margherita Belice, Cresime 1846-1853, Image121, f 546, record 7°.
1853. The Confirmation of Giovanna Montelione, daughter of Leonardo and Vittoria Cicio; godmother: Laurea Russo.
I cannot find the confirmation record for a Giovanna Montelione, daughter of Antonino.
I therefore think there is an error in Giovanna’s baptismal record. Her father must definitely be Leonardo, not Antonino.
