Palermo, cities

[DeborahLar]

I believe I may have found the manifest of my grandmothers arrival to New York. The listing shows the ship sailing from Palermo but the city or town is very hard to read. It appears to be Germia. Is there such a town in Sicily?

When I did a google search for Germia, Palermo it corrected itself to Geremia. I'm not sure whether or not it is a city because most results were returned in Italian but maybe one of our experts could tell us that.
