Hello,
I am from Argentina and I am looking for my ancestral Carlo Colombo. who was born in 1847 or 1848, in Cesano Maderno, Milano (or perhaps he lived there before he came to Argentina). His parents were Arcangelo Colombo and Teresa Mavera. He got married with Enrichetta Barlasina.
It is very important for me any information about him.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.
Looking for Carlo Colombo
There are, as you know, 162 residents in cesano Maderno both business and private that have Colombo as a surname or part of the business. Since Northern Italy did not have any civil records for Italy prior to its unification in 1872 church records are the place to go to seek documentary evidence. However, it may be possible that Cesano Maderno maintained civil records because of some foreign or local reason. Go to wwww.cesano.com for the town website and try to contact them about the existence of civil records prior to 1872. If not then go to www.paginebianche.it and put in the word Parrocchia in the first line and Cesano maderno in the third line and click cerca. There is a listing of 13 churches in town but only 4 or 5 have "abitazione del Parrocco" which means a priest lives there so if you wish to communicate with these 4 or f=5 for records you have access to their addresses. Peter
Thank you Peter,

They have information from 1882 to 1928. The information between 1870 and 1881 is totally destructed. Before 1870 documents are in the National General Files (Archivo General de la Nacion). After July of 1929 you will find documents at National Office of Migrations (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones).
Best regards.
