If living in the US at the time of the 1900 census, then yes, they should be listed.

Raffaele Valenti arrrived at New York on the 19th of May, 1899 .
He didn't come to US alone. Together with him there were other 2
cousins. One was the brother of the Francesco they were going to
visit. His name was Eufemio Domenico. He was 34, married, a barber,
was able to read and write and had already been in US once.
The other cousin was , 22, single, country-man. Both
of them were from Roccella Ionica. How would I go about finding him on the 1900 Census? Thanks, Valerie

Perhaps Raffaele was not in Brooklyn when the 1900 census was taken. Below is a possible ship manifest from 1905 for wife Caterina and son Ilario which shows them joining Raffaele in what looks like Uniontown PA.

I did not look for the 1900 census....so not sure of residence....
If not found by one of our other members, I will look into this later in the evening.

I have yet to find a 1900 census in either New York, Pennsylvania or West Virginia.........searched for first name only, birth place of Italy, +/- 2 years from date of birth......there were two that came up as a remote possibility,
but the writing was so faded that the census was unreadable.
Maybe our resident "experts" Biff or Vj will have better luck.

Hi all!
No luck either!
Tried no name searches in Brooklyn & Uniontown PA.
(in Brooklyn with birth year +/-2 and
birth year +/-2 with immig 1898-1899)

Interesting side note - only 30 people listed as born in
Italy in Uniontown Fayette PA in 1900.

Possible. I hadn't noticed the two words which could be "in transit" before the "w/husband Raffaele" on the manifest.

I've had no luck either locating a 1900 census record. I did a page by page for ED 557 in Brooklyn where Francesco lived and found no probables. Likewise, for PA and WV.

HI, I have additional information for Raffaele Valenti born 25 Jan 1863 he was born in Riace, Reggio, Calabria, Italy, his parents were Domenico Valenti born 11 Apr 1845 in Riace, Reggio, Calabria, Italy, mother Fortunata Pazzano born 23 Jun 1840 same place. Raffaele’s grand parents were Antonio Valenti/Angela Caputo, great grand parents Raffaele Valenti/Teresa Meconi and g great grandparents Domenico Valenti/Maria Virgulti all from Riace, Reggio, Calabria, Italy, The siblings of which I am aware of Raffaele were Antonio, Assunta Filomena. I am very interested in learning/finding more information on all of these family members. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
