Cornyn Lauds passage of Open Government Act of 2007
The OPEN Government Act of 2007 passed the House on December 22nd! Now we just have to wait for the President to sign it into law and it to come into effect.
The bill supposedly will enact the most sweeping reforms of Freedom of Information Act in a decade, including the establishment of a 16 member commission that will investigate the delays in FOIA requests and mandate changes for expediting the requests.
It remains to be seen whether we will still be waiting 18 months, but this is at least a good sign.
