beh significano che era carpenter, poi la seconda sigla non so e la strada.... per il resto non so, sto guardando quella del 1925 e francamente non mi sembra che ci sia molto...

Nel 1925, Nunzio erà già tornato da diversi anni a Messina. Quindi sicuramente, se c'è un Nunzio in elenco, sarà stato un omonimo.

nel 1925 non ho detto che c'è: anzi non c'è proprio per niente... c'è nel 1915 e 1917... riguardo al 1925 ho detto che non c'è nulla di interessante, non un Placido, non uno Stellario, non un Letterio, non un Nunzio... tutto qui

il link.. caro Iolo queste le trovo su ancestry.com e sono con sottoscrizione come sai, ho salvato l'immagine, l'ho maneggiata e l'ho postata con imageshack.... quello che mi incuriosisce è: che fine hanno fatto stellario e Letterio...??? Placido resta un mistero e va beh... ma questi altri? sono nomi di battesimo particolari... insomma deve esserci qualcosa... tipo avranno americanizzato il nome? avranno cambiato stato? che fine hanno fatto? misterissimo!

Nel 1925, Nunzio e Stellario sono già a Messina da anni. Strano che non ci sia Letterio, magari forse era morto.
Si potrebbe cercare il suo atto di morte. Non credo che a New York, c'erano molti Letterio Romeo negli anni '20.

ok, ma almeno, secondo te, nel 1915 potevano esserci? ho cercato negli atti di morte fino al 1948, non c'è......

Grazie Suanj per la collaborazione e per gli utili documenti che riesci a trovare.
Nunzio e Stellario fanno ritorno In Italia. Negli Stati Uniti restano Letterio e Vincenzo. Inoltre, un altro fratello dovrebbe essere Salvatore. Dalle ricerche ne sono venuti fuori 2.
Uno era lo zio di tutti i Romeo e l'altro era un fratello.
Si, è vero. la storia è un pò ingarbugliata, ma comunque è interessantissima.

Mi chiedevo se appunto, esistono degli archivi o presso la compagnia telefonica dell'epoca o presso la Camera di Commercio di New York.
Magari qualche utente americano, ha qualche notizia in merito.

Nel 1915 Nunzio, probabilmente era a New York. Stellario, magari era già tornato in Italia.
Per il resto, gli altri fratelli (Vincenzo, Letterio e Salvatore), sicuramente sono rimasti a New York.

Papale Concetta era la moglie di Salvatore Romeo.
Questo Salvatore Romeo, sicuramente (quasi al 100 %), era il fratello di Nunzio, Stellario,Letterio e Vincenzo.
La figlia si chiama Francesca. I genitori di Nunzio, si chiamavano Placido e Francesca.

cercando ancora su ellisisland, ho trovato anche un altro Nunzio Romeo che emigra a New York nel 1909. E' un bambino di 12 anni, che parte con la madre e con il fratello Giuseppe di 4 anni.

Non si capisce bene (in quanto ci sono differenze nelle 2 pagine), se vanno a trovare il padre (il cui nome sembra addirittura Romeo Giuseppe; magari è un errore e si sono dimenticati di scrivere in-law, quindi sarebbe il suocero; o vanno a trovare la nonna materna, che sembra chiamarsi Caterina).
In tal caso, verrebbe fuori un altro Romeo di nome Giuseppe, che ha un nipote che porta il suo stesso nome, nato nel 1897.
Questo Romeo Giuseppe (potrebbe essere uno zio di Nunzio,Stellario,Vincenzo,Letterio e Salvatore), oltre ad essere fratello dell'altro Romeo Salvatore, cui, mollti che emigravano dall'Italia, andavano a trovare una volta arrivati negli Usa.
Potresti dare tu un'occhiata, per vedere se riesci a trovare qualche notizia più chiara?
Ovviamente, anche Laura, se vuole, può dare il suo prezioso contributo.
