Thank you VJ....... :)
As you know my internet connection here in the "boonies" is not the best,
although I did find an alternative to dial up, and opted not to go with the satellite connection.......had the hubby buy me a laptop and went with
wireless.....not as fast as my cable modem was in the big city.... :P
but an improvement over dial up!!!!
However, I'm limited by how much I am allowed to upload and download..... :?
Still dreaming that one day cable services will arrive here in the middle of nowhere......

The death record for Delida had an image attatched to it.....can you post it?? Could you tell what was written for Ettore? M1 or M2??

Again, overwhelmed. You people are AMAZING! And Lee, yes, yes, yes, to the question if Lee Angelo had other children. Boy, did he.

You listed the following--
Kentucky Birth Index, 1911-1999

Name: Ruby E Filippini
Date of Birth: 7 Oct 1934
County: Whitley
Mother's Name: Myrtle Bray
Volume Number: 112
Certificate Number: 55773
Volume Year: 1934

Name: Albert C Fillippenie
Date of Birth: 29 Jun 1928
County: Whitley
Mother's Name: Myrtle Bray
Volume Number: 062
Certificate Number: 30556
Volume Year: 1928

Name: Arthur L Fillippnie
Date of Birth: 22 Jun 1931
County: Whitley
Mother's Name: Myrtle Bray
Volume Number: 057
Certificate Number: 28327
Volume Year: 1931

Name: Clara M Philippeni
Date of Birth: 26 Jul 1926
County: Whitley
Mother's Name: Myrtle Bray
Volume Number: 072
Certificate Number: 35920
Volume Year: 1926

I actually met my Aunt Ruby many years ago, and had one brief and precious visit with her. The story that I was told, was that Lee had "lots" of kids, and I did hear the names Ruby, Clara, and Arthur as some of them, and that

upon the death of his wife, Myrtle Bray (that was also the name I was told, so here we see it completely confirmed) that Lee was overwhelmed, and could not sufficiently care for his children.

That was how my dad, Bobby, the youngest, came to be adopted by Odie "Buck" Shoupe and his wife, Louise. It apparently was a legal adoption because when he married my mother, they were Mr. and Mrs. Shoupe. The marriage broke up when I was about 18 months old, and Mama remarried fairly quickly. I always thought my stepdad was my real dad. (Found out different when I was 18. Lots of fun, that...)

Anyway, look at all this wonderful new info you brilliant people have unearthed! Coming here is like Christmas, I swear....

Happy to have helped out....
I enjoyed the search, haven't had much time to research lately,
so thank you for "letting me run with it"

This should be enough to get you started on exactly where to focus regarding records here in the US.....
We need to confirm the exact town of origin, this could be listed on a manifest, naturalization records, marriage records, a death certificate, or even an obituary. Many of the older obits read like a life story, and yet some are simply written. By pulling as many documents as you can, you build solid clues to follow.

Do you recall ever hearing where Ettore and Virginia met or married?
Given the frequent mispelling of the name, I can't help but feel there is more out there.....both Kentucky and Tennessee have some great databases.

I to have had some real shocks in researching my own family history,
I swear I have unearthed more skeletons in the closet than in any graveyard.....

Marriage record for Ettore and Virginia:

Married in Jellico, date recorded May 17, 1889?

Speculation here, but the entry above them is for a

Hye, Lee!

You said, "We need to confirm the exact town of origin, this could be listed on a manifest, naturalization records, marriage records, a death certificate, or even an obituary. Many of the older obits read like a life story, and yet some are simply written. By pulling as many documents as you can, you build solid clues to follow."

This is great advice, and I will keep this as an outline/structure to follow. In other news, I have have heard back (via email) from a Sister Margie at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Jellico, TN who has also been incredibly kind. In response to my queries to her, she offered to take a picture of Ettore's headstone in the St. Boniface Cemetery and mail it to me, along with "other information."

Maybe marriage records? Or children's baptismal records? I won't get my hopes up, the picture alone is a great gift.

Again, thanks a million (or should I say "mille"? ;-) and I will report back, just for fun, anytime I get new info. It's so nice to have people who know, understand, care...

Have a great day, everybody!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you....

You may be surprised at what you recieve from the church, if records were kept in proper order, Ettore should have given information as to where he was born and baptised at what church.....maybe even his parents name......

Please keep us updated with news on your progress!!
Happy Hunting,
Lee

their daughter Carolina "Lena" Maciejko died Sept 10 and Eatro E. "Tory" Columbo is in todays paper- they were siblings and a brother Joseph is also mentioned as passing away previously- Tory was born in Gatliff KY

CJ, I'll email you, because yes, I would love to see that picture of Mary Fillippini. I confess I had to go back and look at earlier posts to figure out where the connection lay...

But Mary is my grandfather Lee Angelo's sister, so that means she is my great-aunt! Isn't it amazing how the family branches spread out and spread out...Who would have thought I'd have relatives in Watertown, NY? Certainly not me, a southerner all my life...

Thanks again and again, all you brilliant detectives!
