any civil document can be obtained from the UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE in the Comune or town of birth, marriahe,.death and rsidence. However, in Italy, civil record did not begin until the unificcation of Italy, and therefore, civil record began in the early 1860\'2 (possibly 1852) which is close to the year you mentioned. I would suggest you also write to the church in Sondrio. I will check to see how many churches there are and let you know. Peter

There are 11 churches in the city of Sondrio which is also the Capital of Sondrio province. Are you sure the marriage took place in Sondrio and not in some surrouinding small town?? The postal code for Sondrio is 23100, Comune di Sondrio, Lombardia, Italy when you write to the Ufficio di Stato Civile and ask for the records. Include a self addresed envelope and send them $5.00 for stamps since the service is free. Peter
