You bet!NCJE2910 wrote:actually never mind - is it possible he came in 1900 - went back and came back in 1903?
Actually it was pretty common for men to send for their wives, usually after earning enough money in the US.
Some men went back to marry, some went back to bring their wives and children to the US.
In many cases folks traveled back and forth several times - the manifest often indicates if they were in the US before.
Note: the 130 Baxter address from Giuseppe & his family's manifest page in Oct 1903 is identified on Sabatina Sanfilippo's page as Nicolo Canarelli's address.

Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
Thanks valerie - your really a great help - im still a bit confused but overall i think i get it now, it was just confusing that he came twice, but i get it, thanks!
Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
I get alot of this but help mw clear this up - who was the francesco mineo that came with sabatina. It seems weird that giuseppe's niece or servant would travel to america with francesca's ex-in-law - im so confused how sabatina would be related. Also if Giuseppe came with francesca and maria in 1903, how was their daughter sadie born in italy? - I don't know - this is really confusing me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
That's a tough one, I think if Francesco were related the relationship would have been stated on the manifest. Coming from the same town it would be possible that he had the same surname as Francesca's 1st husband but not be 'closely' related.NCJE2910 wrote:... who was the francesco mineo that came with sabatina. Best guess:NCJE2910 wrote:... if Giuseppe came with francesca and maria in 1903, how was their daughter sadie born in italy? ...
Maria from the 1903 manifest and Sadie from the 1910 census are the same person. Maria was probably her 1st name, Sadie was a nickname for her 2nd name. Note: since wife Francesca on the 1910 census indicated she was married twice, she would probably be Francesca's daughter from her 1st marriage.

Franceco Mineo
another clue, the page before Sabatina Sanfilippo's line off
1 Oct 1903 manifest
lined off (did not sail)
Franceco Mineo 24
joining uncle Giuseppe Canarelli at 130 Baxter Street

Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
Thanks for the info and resources, I'm gonna write to Agira soon and try to go to the family research center soon too. I was wondering if there was any naturalization records for any of the brothers or sister: like Francesco, Giuseppe, Antonio, or Maria? Thank you so much in advance, and Valerie you've been such a big help I cant thank you enough.
Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
Hello!
You're very welcome
I checked for naturalization records, but only found Nicolo's
Here's the link to finding online records:
http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/naturalization.html
Giuseppe's passport did have his naturalization information on it - but it wasn't on footnote. com
The NY archives should be able to provide a copy:
- form for request: http://www.italiangen.org/Naturalizatio ... enSite.pdf
- or online: https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonl ... 1249688682
(I've ordered records both ways)

Re: Looking for information about the Canarelli & Trolla
Hi Nick,
I'll check dad's Bible to see if any info on the aunts & uncles; Gertrude married James Anderton, Rose married Barrett Seligman, Louis moved to Florida and Terri has met his grandchildren: Brad and Brett, I believe; Carmine was our Grandfather of course; Genevieve was known to me as Aunt Jean; Dad kept in touch with Peter's son, also named Peter and I met him once while visiting Dad in Vegas. Hopefully I can get to this over the weekend
