suanj,
I've also been searching for any of them in the 1930 census but have found no probables for Paul, Marion or daughter Camilla/Carmella.

Pistolpete,
To verify the information posted, you should request a copy of the marriage document from 1926 and Paul Chelly's original social security application.

Valarie,
If you get a chance, could you check and see if you can find any information on Paul Chelly and/or the Royal Roman Orchestra on the newspaper archives site?

Very interesting stuff suanj. Imagine if I'm starring at my great grandfather. I'm trying to find the resemblance between him and my grandfather, and dad (Who looks like my grandfather).

The stepson stuff is interesting. By 1930, he should be with my Great Grandmother Marion/Marianna Amari. Whether they were married or not I don't know. He left when my grandfather was 2 so that should be somewhere in the late 1930's (around 1937).

All great work, really exciting that we're getting very close and I could to pinning this.

Wow, great find. Domenico dieing young explains why my father doesn't know much about him. Heck, my grandfather was barely alive at that point. And those names are very similitude to a lot of the names of the kids of Giuseppe and Antonina. Great work!

Very interesting Biff. And the 1930's would be a perfect time frame for him to be doing this stuff. That could be why he left as maybe he wanted more time for his craft. I'm getting a discerning feeling that Paul Chelly may be our guy. At least that his last name might not be Chelli but Chelly. Both are open potentials as for now.

I'll try to see if I can do that Biff.

For any new news, my father believes that he played the "Trumpet." He says that's all he remembers his father or someone saying he played trumpet.

Valeria that all sounds terrific. My father confirmed Phil and Paul moving to Florida. I wouldn't be suprised if Eleonora passed away young too. My father couldn't register an Eleonora nor a Dominico. However, Vito and Ignazio (Williams) rings a bell.

Pistolpete, the surname is Chelli anglicized in Chelly... no doubts abt that... as Biff suggested, better to request the marriage certificate of Paul and Marion, so you can be very sure that is the right Marion ... the 1930 census ... lacking, but it is possible that Paul moving with family and orchestra...

I missed of to say that Paul mother was Carmela Chelli nee Barone

I'm sure that the naturalization index card I posted previously is for Marianna Amari Chelli aka Marion Chelli.

I located the engagement announcement for daughter Carmella in 1949 which shows mother as Mrs. Joseph Sgroi, address as 1085 De Kalb Ave in Brooklyn, one of the addresses shown on the index card.

Go to this site and search for the exact phrase:
Car mella Chelli (use spaces as shown)

There are two records, one for WWI and one for WWII. Both for your great grandfather in my opinion.

Thank you guys so much. You've been incredibly helpful and I'm grateful. Never dreamed it would take 2 days to track down my biological great grandfather. Not only that, but know his mother's name, where he was born and where he lived. This happens to be my my only non-Sicilian Italian ancestry, which is fascinating. He was and lived near Rome. I'm just ecstatic.

This Ellis Island report says he was blind.
