Looking for information (parents/children) of the following couples: All circa 1800 - 1820 Palemo District, Sicily, Italy (Sferracavallo, Tomasso Natale, Capaci, San Cristina Gela, Mezzomonreale)

Filippo and Paola (LaRosa) Giaconia, Stefano and Antonia (Ruffino) Gambino, Nicolo and Paola (Liga) Ania, Antonino and Rosalia Pietra (Ajello) LoGrasso, Giuseppe and Anna (Ania) Megna, Stefano and Rosa (Messina) Fontana, Salvatore and Francesca (Graziano) Pagano

I know that Paola (Liga) Ania is daughter of Domenico and Paola (Spina) Liga.

Any information is welcome.

Let's see what happens 6-plus years later.

I am Parker Gambino, a descendant of Nicolo Ania/Paola Liga and Stefano Gambino/Antonia Ruffino through Antonino Gambino/Girolama Ania. I would love to share info.

Paola Liga, married to Nicolo Ania, is my g-g-g-grandmother.

Her entry in the Palermo civile morti records made available by Tornabene:

LIGA Paola - Pietro - Palmeri Caterina - 19 Novembre 1828 - a.51 - Molo - vol 96 n 341.

So it seems like her parents were Pietro Liga and Caterina Palmeri.

What is the source of your information that she is daughter of Domenico Liga x Paola Spina?

Parker

Hello Cousin,

I originally obtained that information on Domenico Liga and Paola Spina being her potential parents through FamilySearch, but it may not be correct. There are probably Church records that would confirm parents but I have not attempted to delve in that far on this branch of the family.

I did find that the surname Liga is also found in Hungary as Lega, Liga, and Lyga. Could the Liga family have been originally from Austria-Hungary? There was a family tradition of some Austrian and some Jewish in my grandmother's family. My Autosomal DNA test ethnicity results on various sites as well as those of a sibling consistently show some European Jewish or Ashkenazi Jewish across the board. Cousins on my father's side who have taken the test also show this. On GEDMatch, Hungarian also shows up on many tests. Just speculation at this point. Is there any similar family lore in your family?

I am happy to exchange information on this family with you. My e-mail is: akgagliani@msn.com.
