Marriage acts

Post by jbrusa »

When the parent on a marriage act is deceased, they have figlio di fu`. What does it mean when they have figlio di Sif (I think)? Here's an example:

In the above document, what is the profession of the groom Vincenzo Rizio?

Thank you for your help.

It is an abbreviation for Signore (Sig with a raised e). Signora would be Sig raised a.

Vincenzo was a bracciale - farmhand/labourer.
