Hello everyone!
I have a branch of my family tree with the surname "Marcon detto Saboin". This family is from Veneto (Mareno di Piave, Vazzola...).
What is the meaning of the alias/word "Saboin"?
Thanks!
Meaning of "detto Saboin" alias (Veneto)
Re: Meaning of "detto Saboin" alias (Veneto)
Are you saying that many persons of the family (not only one) have this surname?
If so Saboin shoud be an addition to the surname Marcon to distinguish a part of the family, to avoid too many persons with the same name and surname.
I read this was common in Piemonte, where can be found double surnames (two words without the 'detto')
What happened to the descendants, they came back to Marcon or were Marcon Saboin or perhaps only Saboin?

Saboin maybe from Sabo = Saturday

They emigrated to Brazil in the 1890s. Here, only the Marcon surname remained.
