Hi all,
Can someone please help me with a Birth Certificate translation. This man never knew his father, only his mother but from what i can read it says his name was given as Tommaso and last name Eucalitto. Is this correct? Also there is a lot of writing on the second page which i cannot read at all, does it says anywhere information about the father?
Thanks so much.

Re: Help with Birth Record
Yes, the certificate states that a woman named Angela Rigoli declared that a baby was born of a "woman who doesn't want to be named" in a home at via Portello. Angela was 30 and a "nutrice" (nurse), so it seems that her job was to breastfeed children. She requested to keep the baby with her, and she was allowed to do it. Then, in 1908, she legitimated him. It would be interesting to find the legitimation deed, to see if she declared he was her natural son, or just adopted him. The use of the word "legitimate" makes me think he actually was her son. Also, it would be useful to check if she was married at the time.

Re: Help with Birth Record
Hi Pippo, thanks so much for the response, much appreciated. How do i go about getting the legitimation deed? Also does it happen to have any mention of the father?
From the story i was told by my nonno, the mother was a servant for a noble man who ended up getting her pregnant and to hide his identity Angela took the baby. Im unsure if Angela was the actual mother but it would be very interesting to find out. DO you have any website i could try find this please?
Thanks
Joe

Re: Help with Birth Record
I hoped I could find find the "allegati di nascita" for 1897, or find the deed as a sheet inserted in the birth register. Instead, there are no allegati, and it seems that births of 1897 are online at Familysearch.org, but Tommaso's birth must be in a supplementary register that is not available.
