Translate marriage record

Post by Candida »

Hi,

Can you please translate the marriage record for Mauro Giuseppe Mongelli and Chiara Germinario – number 28
The writing is very faint for Atti Di Matrimonio
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 23&lang=en

so, I have also attached Pubblicazione Di Matrimonio – number 7
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 23&lang=en

Thank you

Here's the marriage record - yes it is very faint. I translated the Pubblication first to make it easier. I'll post that shortly as it has added information. I just want check something as it's a bit faint in places too.

Right Column Annotation: This is confirming that the respective birth records of the couple were annotated on 30 January – 1875 Birth Record Act No 1104 (The Grooms) and 1882 Birth Record Act No 858 (The Brides)

Appearing before the official were:

Groom: Mauro Giuseppe Mongelli, never married, 26 yo, a contadino, born in Molfetta, residing in Molfetta, the son of Cosmo (Mongelli) and of Beatrice de Gennaro, both residents of Molfetta.

Bride: Chiara Germinario, never married, 19 yo, a casalinga, born and residing in Molfetta, daughter of Pasquale and of the deceased Giovanna Spaccavento, who had resided in Molfetta when living.

Here is the translation of the Pubblication which gives more info. I was hoping that it gave the date of the mother's death but I can't see it.

Pubblication Number 7: Mauro Giuseppe Mongelli and Chiara Germinario
Molfetta: 9 January 1902

(Banns were posted on the door of the Town Hall in Molfetta on 12 January 1902, 19 January 1902, 23 January 1902)

Appearing were:

Prospective Groom: Mauro Giuseppe Mongelli, never married, 26 yo, a contadino, residing in Molfetta, the son of Cosmo (Mongelli) and of Beatrice de Gennaro, both residents of Molfetta.

And

Father of the Prospective Bride: Pasquale Germinario, son of the deceased Sergio, 50 yo, contadino, resident of Molfetta, the father of prospective bride, Chiara Germinario. Chiara, was 19 yo, a casalinga, had never married, resided in Molfetta, was the daughter of (said) Pasquale and of the deceased Giovanna Spaccavento, who had resided in Molfetta when living.

Great job, Candida!!! :D

Death No 82: Giovanna Spaccavento

Molfetta: 24 January 1901

Appearing were Onofrio Pansini, 58 yo, bottaio (cooper/barrel maker), and Antonio Andriani, 38 yo, contadino, both living in Molfetta. They reported that at 12 am yesterday, in the house in Via Quintino Sella, No 24, Giovanna Spaccavento died. She was 43 yo, a casalinga (housewife/domestic duties), born and residing in Molfetta, the daughter of the deceased Orazio (Spaccavento) and of the deceased Chiara Altamura; and wife of Pasquale Germinario.

I love the name Spaccavento. I think it means windbreaker. Vento is wind and spacca I always understood to mean break or split.
