Hello,
I am planning on visiting San Pietro in Guarano later this year, and would like to know where my ancestor Caterina Panza was born. If anbody could find the details of where her house was located, that would be great. Thanks.

1873 birth record.
Re: 1873 birth record.
In this birth act for Caterina Panza, there are several people and their place of habitation mentioned.
Presenting the child was Anna Panza, daughter of deceased Francesco, age 25, peasant farmer, who resided in contrada Piazza, and who assisted with the birth.
Present as witnesses to this declaration were Nicola Panza, son of deceased Giuseppe, age 70; and Pasquale Marsito(SP?), son of Nicolo, age 45; both landowners residing contrada Senxxx?
The mother was Teresa Cuzza, daughter of deceased Pietro, age 40; and father was Raffaele Panza, son of deceased Francesco, age 41, husband.
The child was born at the home of her parents in contrada "above said" (I believe it is the contrada Piazza)
A "contrada" is a district of neighborhood within a town/city. Unfortunately, there is nothing more specific in the birth act.

Re: 1873 birth record.
There are two street names which appear in the record. One is Contrada Piazza where an Anna Panza resided. Anna was the daughter of deceased Francesco. It was she who announced the birth at the town hall and presented the infant. Then there is the name of the street on which the two witnesses lived, which is difficult to decipher but I think was Contrada Scrittisani. One of those witnesses was a Nicola Panza, son of deceased Giuseppe. The infant Caterina Panza was born in the house of her parents, Raffaele Panza of deceased Francesco and Teresa Cozza(?). The record reads that their domicile was situated on the street above. So the record is not specific as to which of the two locations the house in which she was born was situated, as both locations appear above. Also, there is currently no Contrada in the town just called Contrada Piazza. There is, however, a Via Scrittisani, not a Contrada Scrittisani.
***There is an organization in the town which may have info about street name changes which have taken place there over the years. Since you are planning a trip there, you might want to contact this organization to inquire if any of its volunteer members know whether there is a list available with former and current street names, if the former names no longer exist.
