Birth No 54: Nicolo’ Ferraro

Registered in S. Margherita Belice on 7 April 1917

Appearing was Ildegarda Canaletti, 65 yo, midwife, living in S. Margherita. She reported that at 5 pm on 3 April 1917, in the house in Via Romeo, no number given, from Margherita D’Amico, wife of Giuseppe Ferraro, a Casalinga, living with him, was born a baby of male sex, who she presented to the official and gave the name of Nicolo’.

At the base of the record there is a note to say that the midwife registered the birth in place of the father of the baby, Giuseppe Ferraro, because he had been called to the army. (WWI)

No ages or birth places given for the baby’s parents.

The church wedding of Giuseppe Ferraro and Margherita d'Amico took place on 21 October 1906 at the parish church of S. Margherita di Belice.
Marriage Register 1906–1921, image 37, page 10, record #41.
The groom (aged 24) was the son of Domenico and the late Anna Monteleone, formerly married.
The bride (aged 19) was the daughter of unknown parents.
Both the bride and groom were from the parish of Santa Margherita Belice.

Domenico M(aria) Ferraro was born in Santa Margherita on 16 November 1839 to Francesco and Rosolia Portolano, a married couple, and was baptised on the 17th by Brother Luigi di Giuseppe, the sacramental chaplain. His godparents were Peregrino Crucimanno and Grazia Ferraro.

The new born was born on 8 May current year (1851), at 3 pm in the house of her father and was given the name of Anna.

Anna was baptised in the Parish of S. Margarita on 9 May 1851.
