Re: notarizing documents
If you mean "apostilles", they are done by the Secretary of State of the state which issued the documents. For your New Jersey docs, http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/revenue ... tilles.htm , for Pennsylvania docs http://www.dos.state.pa.us/bcel/cwp/vie ... 9&q=431686belmoro19 wrote:hello, i am wondering if someone can tell me about notarizing documents.i live in florida but all documents i have are from pennsylvania and new jersey.can i notarize them here in florida or do i have to go to pennsylvania to have them notarized.and also can i translate documents myself or do they have to be by a profesional?thanks
The various consulates in the US seem to have differing requirements for translations. Some, such as New York City, do not require translations for basic docs such as birth, death, marriage certificates; others require professional translations for each and every document. Also, some require that you use translators speciffically approved by that particular consulate.
Your best bet would be to contact the Miami consulate (http://www.consmiami.esteri.it/Consolato_Miami/)and ask them directly.
