Vincenzo D'onofrio - Pietrabbondante - Help finding Birth Record

Post by Gonzalogmg09 »

Hi everyone! I'm Gonzalo Gorosito from Argentina.

I would need to bother you with some minutes of your time to ask for a favour, basically: I need help finding my AVO's birth record.

My italian AVO was born in Pietrabbondante, his name was: Vincenzo D'onofrio (usually written as /d/ Onofrio, son of:
Giuseppe D'onofrio and
"Albuccia" Di Salvo (sopranominata: "Domenica", and here in Argentina called: Maria) - It's intrincate because in Argentina her mother was labeled Maria, and in some records added a "Dominga", spanish version of Domenica in Italia /
My research told me the following info about my AVO (Vincenzo):
- He born in Italia, then moved to Argentina, where he got married, had my grandmother and later on died.
- He should have born between 1878 and 1880
- He might have come to Argentina with his parents sometime before 1895.
- He could have a brother called: Palmerino D'onofrio, born in 1877.
- His relatives information (parents, brothers, grandfathers) is synthesized in the image below

The only records I could, to support the investigation, were these:
- Birth Record: Palmerino D'onofrio: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 1tvqV7eZoU
- Vicenzo's Parents Marriage record: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... FVU_l5SCcg
- Vicenzo's Parents Marriage "Pubblicazioni": http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 2TrO4TC4qs

Also I've tried to send and email to the comune of Pietrabbondante, asking both:
- My AVO birth record, and
- his parents record (which I knew in advance were there thanks to Antenati, links I shared to the comune, as well the images...)

However...
- On the first email, they answered me really quick and told me +/-: "There isn't any record"
- Then I reply to ask kindly a 2nd time, and they told me: "We got the marriage record, but we couldn't found any record of Vincenzo D'onofrio for those parents..."

I don't know where should I ask?
- Is there some place I could research about parish records?
- Is someone I could ask for help?

My biggest theories are
1. Maybe he was just recorded in a nearby church
2. Maybe he was born while his parents were working in a nearby town Pietrab.

All in all in on a dead end 🙁

FYI: There is one Vincenzo D'onofrio on the Antenatti records
Vincenzo ONOFRIO (not d'Onofrio), born in Pietrabbondante on Feb. 5th, 1881, son of Nicolamaria and of Modestina Santangelo.

Sorry, but the links don't working...
However on 1895 Argentina census, Palmerino was 16 old so born around 1879. Vincenzo don't appear in the family. Josè D'Onofrio 55 old and Dominga Di Salvo 50 old

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 3AMW7J-KZW
so mayve Vincenzo was already married at this time ?

When a record is no found, the problem is always in basic data.. maybe his first name was no Vincenzo.. just finding the immigration record it is possible to know birthyear and true first name..

Gonzalo, something don't matching in your post. Please to show the marriage record of your Vincenzo so we can read and it show the birthplace Pietrabbondante? The parent's names? If he was born around 1878/80 on 1895 census he was a boy and a boy staying in the family, instead don't appears.. so something went wrong....before to search in ITALY needs to search in argentina and to show the records and the immigration record... because it is easy to make some error and all the building then is wrong... Please show us what you have abt records ok?

Gonzalo,
I have spent some time checking the things you state in your post. I can't understand how you can say that your ancestor was born in Pietrabbondante, and how you can say that Albuccia Di Salvo was Dominga Di Salvo. How can you say that Palmerino is Vincenzo's brother.
You make a family tree back generations, but you cannot prove it is from your ancestor. I don't know with what criteria you did your research, but I actually believe that you start from wrong assumptions and illusory adjustments. Sorry if I tell you, but by doing so you waste time at the Pietrabbondante officer and you waste time.

The first thing you have to post here, it's not the family tree you made, on your preconceptions, but you have to post Vincenzo's wedding in Argentina, I mean the image of the record, his children, his death, his arrival in Argentina. This is to confirm (marriage and death) the names of the parents.
The age at arrival must be compared with the age in the marriage and death record s....

to have what his age actually was and that of the arrival is the most truthful. Read the names of those who traveled with him, because from the names one can get an idea of the area of origin, in fact they rarely traveled alone.

Also check if other D'Onofrio lived in the same Argentine town where Vincenzo lived. Because they could probably be related. And if you don't arrive by the main road you can get by the secondary road to find where he was born. D'onofrio is a common surname in southern Italy.

Well Gonzalo don't reply.. ok...
I understood why he think that Vincenzo d'Onofrio was related to Giuseppe D'Onofrio and Maria Domenica Di Salvo ( Albuccia) and Palmerino D'Onofrio. Just because this family was in Carmen de Areco, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I found that Vincenzo D'Onofrio married to Carmen Piegora on 1906 in the church Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Carmen de Areco, Buenos Aires, Argentina..
The index is available on familysearch but no the record. To get the record could be helpful, because I believe that almost the parent's names are on! So the family mystery can be solved...
The fact that the D'Onofrio was in Carmen de Areco, Buenos Aires, Argentina don't means that they was of same family, maybe cousins or just a coincidence....

Here a record abt a birth of a Vicente D'Onofrio and Carmen Piegora child in Carmen de Areco
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... A6DS9-XNG5
you can see that padrinos were Pedro Angel DE SALVO and Isabel Marchetti... you can see that the surnames De Salvo (Di Salvo) and D'Onofrio was in good relationship, in same argentinian town, but Vincenzo was not the son of Giuseppe D'Onofrio and Maria Domenica Di Salvo..
So we are back to my first replies.. some basic data is wrong...
