Help with a town listed on a marriage record

Hi,
I have a New York marriage record for Rose Vedimiglia and Nicola Carodino from 1920. It says that Nicola Carodino was born in Motendi, Italy however, I cannot find any Motendi. Rose was from Vatolla...is there a Motendi close to there?

Vatolla is a frazione of the comune Perdifumo, in Salerno province. Montendi might be a corruption of the town of Monte di Procida, Naples province? Are you sure of the name Carodino?

He was probably from Matonti, a hamlet of Laureana Cilento (not far from Perdifumo), may be this one:

Here is a possible arrival for Nicola in 1906.
Age 20 - occupation: shoemaker, agrees with occupation listed on the 1930 US Census Pippo posted!
AND he was from Salerno
